Retirement home fire’s toll rises to 3
Authorities have found the body of a third victim in the rubble of a retirement home fire.
The unidentified man’s body was found Wednesday morning in a bed, buried beneath four feet of debris, on the sixth floor of Casa de Vallejo.
About 115 residents were evacuated after a fire broke out on the sixth floor of the seven-story building. Officials said John Argente, 74, died Sunday at a hospital of his injuries, and a man whose body also was found in the rubble has not yet been publicly identified.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
