Jonathan Quick’s formula for success is simple.

“I just stop the puck,” said Quick, who made 30 saves for his second shutout in three games in the Kings’ 4-0 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday night. “It’s all I really have to do.”

Quick’s shutout came in only his eighth career game and sixth start. He had his first career shutout Tuesday night in a 3-0 victory at Columbus.

Alexander Frolov scored twice, Jarret Stoll had a goal and an assist, and Raitis Ivanans had a goal for the Kings, who used a late first-period scoring burst to win for the second time in three games.

“Tonight we were flat and there really is no excuse for it,” Phoenix captain Shane Doan said. “You need to be ready to go every night and tonight we didn’t have the jump that we needed.”

The Kings scored three times in the final 5:54 of the first period.

Ivanans opened the scoring at 14:06 when he beat Ilya Bryzgalov on a wrist shot from the top of the left faceoff circle.

Frolov scored a power-play goal at 17:27 when his shot from the high slot deflected off Phoenix defenseman Kurt Sauer and Stoll capped the scoring with 19.1 seconds to go -- also on the power play -- on a wrist shot from the middle of the right faceoff circle.

“You always want to get the first goal in this game,” Kings Coach Terry Murray said. “We tried to come out hard, we got pucks on the net and at least gave ourselves the opportunity for the first goal.”

The Coyotes, who had defeated the Kings on Friday night at Staples Center, went 0 for 7 on the power play.
