* at Boston 98, San Antonio 90: Paul Pierce scored 35 points to help the Celtics hold off the Spurs and improve to 5-2 without Kevin Garnett, who isn’t expected back until after the All-Star break because of an abdominal strain. Rajon Rondo had 12 assists and 11 rebounds.

* at New Jersey 101, Dallas 82: Vince Carter scored 25 of his 29 points after nearly being knocked out by a Brandon Bass elbow to his head in the second quarter, and the inconsistent Nets ran off 21 straight points spanning the second and third quarters to stun the Mavericks.

* at Phoenix 108, Washington 107: Amare Stoudemire had 31 points, including two game-clinching free throws with 7.5 seconds left, and the Suns handed the Wizards their seventh straight loss. Stoudemire, who made his first seven shots, also had 13 rebounds and four blocked shots.

* at Detroit 113, Charlotte 87: Tayshaun Prince scored 14 of his 21 points in the first quarter, and the Pistons led, 27-7, after the opening nine minutes in their eighth straight victory. Charlotte missed 12 of its first 14 shots. The Pistons finished 5-0 on an 11-day homestand.

* Toronto 105, at Minnesota 82: The Raptors broke the game open with a 20-8 third-quarter run. Andrea Bargnani scored 16 points, and Jose Calderon had 15 points and 10 assists. T.J. Ford had seven points and 13 assists, his highest totals since returning Feb. 4 from a neck injury.

* Denver 113, at Cleveland 83: Carmelo Anthony scored 27 points in three quarters, and the Nuggets led by as many as 37 points in handing the Cavaliers their worst home loss since April 2005. Anthony, coming off a 49-point effort, made 11 of 19 shots and had eight rebounds.

* Lakers 104, at Miami 94: Shawn Marion had 15 points and 14 rebounds in his first game with the Heat but couldn’t help keep the Lakers from improving to 5-2 on their trip.
