Pepperdine (9-18, 3-8) at Loyola Marymount (2-9, 5-22), 1 p.m. -- The Waves have won two of their last three and should be energized by the hiring this week of former coach Tom Asbury, who will take over next season. Loyola freshmen Orlando Johnson and Tim Diederichs have started all 27 games for the Lions -- the most starts by freshmen in school history.

Hawaii (11-13) at UC Riverside (6-17), 5 -- The Highlanders are seeking consecutive victories for the first time since November. Guard Larry Cunningham needs 27 points to pass Howard Lee as team’s career scoring leader. Lee had 1,386 points from 1969 to 1972. Hawaii, which has won four of six, has three players averaging in double figures scoring, led by Matt Gibson’s 16.7. They are fifth in the Western Athletic Conference.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE

Long Beach State (6-19) at New Mexico State (15-12), 6 -- It’s the first meeting between the former conference foes since New Mexico State left the Big West after the 1999-2000 season. Donovan Morris is averaging 26.6 points over the last nine games for the 49ers. The Aggies are on a four-game win streak and are a half game out of first place in the WAC.

Rider (18-9) at Cal State Northridge (18-6), 6 -- The Matadors, No. 12 in the Collegeinsider.com mid-major poll, are holding opponents to 41.2% shooting, 38.9% in the last seven games. They have won four of their last six. Jason Thompson, a projected first-round NBA draft pick who is averaging 20.3 points and 11.7 rebounds, leads Rider, which is tied for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference lead.

Idaho (6-18) at UC Irvine (11-14), 7 -- The Anteaters are coming off a loss to UC Riverside, but play their final five games at the Bren Center, where they are 7-0. Seniors Patrick Sanders and Darren Fells are averaging a combined 29.9 points and 11.4 rebounds. Idaho, which left the Big West in 2005, has lost five of it last six and is eighth in the WAC.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (10-14) at Fresno State (12-15), 7 -- The Mustangs are coming off a victory over UC Davis, but they have only one victory against a team with a winning record since conference play began. The Bulldogs, in sixth place in the WAC, have won six consecutive games against Cal Poly, including a 95-75 victory last season.

Portland State (18-8) at Cal State Fullerton (17-7), 7:30 -- The Titans have won seven of their last eight games and senior forward Scott Cutley was named Big West player of the week last week after averaging 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists and shooting 70.4% in two victories. Portland State, on an eight-game win streak, is in first place in the Big Sky Conference.

WOMEN

PACIFIC 10 CONFERENCE

UCLA (14-12, 9-6) at Oregon (11-16, 5-11), 2 -- The fifth-place Bruins continued to struggle on offense Thursday night against host Oregon State, squeezing out enough points to beat the ninth-place Beavers, 55-52, but producing their second-lowest scoring output this season. UCLA tied a team record for the lowest point total Sunday in a 49-36 loss to USC. Oregon guard Taylor Lilley, a sophomore from Newhall, scored a team-high 13 points Thursday night in a 67-58 loss to the visiting Trojans. The Ducks have lost three in a row on their home court.

USC (17-9, 10-5) at Oregon State (10-17, 3-13), 7 -- The Women of Troy are going for a season-best fifth consecutive victory. The last time these teams met, freshman center Kari LaPlante scored 13, all in the second half, in a 59-47 victory over the Beavers. On Thursday, she and Morghan Medlock turned in their strongest performances since returning to the lineup after injuries. LaPlante had 10 points and Medlock had 15 points and 10 rebounds in a 67-58 victory over Oregon. Nadia Parker has scored at least 17 points in the last three games. Oregon State has lost nine in a row, including a 55-52 setback to UCLA on Thursday in which Mercedes Fox-Griffin and Ashley Allen scored 12 apiece. Allen is averaging 16 points.
