Authorities are searching for the driver of a pickup truck in a hit-and-run collision Sunday that killed three Winchester family members.

The victims were identified as Andres Sanagustin, 48, his wife, Maribeth, 36, and their 4-year-old son, Angelo, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officials at the Marine Corps base in Camp Pendleton identified Andres Sanagustin as a 1st Marine Logistics Group Sailor who served as a hospital corpsmen first class.

The family was heading north on Warren Road when their 1999 Chevrolet Malibu was struck head-on by a pickup truck shortly after 8 p.m., authorities said. The driver of the 2007 GMC 2500 truck had crossed over the double yellow lines and struck the car.

Sanagustin and his wife were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Their son was taken to Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta, where he died a short time later.

Witnesses said the motorist abandoned his car and fled in another vehicle with another driver, said CHP spokesman Ron Thatcher.

Thatcher said authorities think the motorist was driving alone at the time of the crash. He said officers are investigating leads on the identity of the motorist and the driver who assisted in fleeing the scene.
