at Chicago 3, San Francisco 1: Aramis Ramirez ended a scoreless tie with a three-run homer in the eighth inning. Ryan Theriot led off with a single off Tyler Walker and Mike Fontenot sacrificed him to second. After Walker intentionally walked Derrek Lee, Ramirez hit the first pitch just inside the foul pole in left.

at New York 2, Colorado 1: Damion Easley’s eighth-inning homer carried the Mets to their seventh consecutive victory. They have won seven in a row for the first time since a span from Aug. 17 to 24, 2006.

St. Louis 6, at Pittsburgh 0: Kyle Lohse (11-2), one of the league’s biggest first-half pitching surprises, won his eighth in a row. He hasn’t lost in 12 starts since May 9.

at Washington 10, Houston 0: Tim Redding finally got a victory after nine consecutive no-decisions. The Astros had hits in the first five innings, but Redding consistently got out of trouble to record his first victory since May 19.

Cincinnati 6, at Milwaukee 5: Jay Bruce scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning on the third wild pitch of the game by the Brewers.

at San Diego 4, Atlanta 0: Jake Peavy held the Braves to four hits in seven innings. He lowered his home earned-run average to 1.45, the lowest in the league and second-lowest in the majors.

at Philadelphia 6, Arizona 5 (12 innings): Former Dodger Jayson Werth hit a game-ending RBI single in the 12th. Shane Victorino tied the score at 5-5 with a two-run triple in the eighth inning.

Florida 3, at Dodgers 1: The Marlins scored all of their runs after only 12 pitches by Eric Stults.
