Crede plays long ball for White Sox
CHICAGO -- Joe Crede listened to a simple batting tip and suddenly he seems to have it all figured out at the plate.
The White Sox third baseman hit two homers for the second game in a row Saturday night, driving in six runs and leading his team to its fifth consecutive victory, 11-2 over the Minnesota Twins.
During a session in the batting cage, hitting coach Greg Walker told Crede to separate his hands from his body. And the advice just made sense.
“You go with it,” Crede said. “I was definitely in a slump in May and you’re searching for different things and different batting stances and Walk came to me just in the cage and says one simple thing. And it’s been able to help me change my hitting stance and hitting outlook all together.”
Crede, who hit two solo homers Friday night, had a pair of three-run homers as the White Sox moved 4 1/2 games ahead of the second-place Twins in the Central Division.
Crede connected in the second inning against Livan Hernandez to make it 4-0. He hit the other one against Boof Bonser, his 14th of the season.
