PITTSBURGH -- Ryan Doumit would prefer to just “ride the wave” and not think about it. But if he keeps hitting as he has the last three days, he’ll soon be the talk of the National League.

Doumit finished an outstanding series against Washington, hitting another home run in the Pirates’ 7-5 victory over the Nationals on Thursday.

In the three-game series, the Pirates catcher was nine for 11 with four home runs, two doubles and seven runs batted in to help the Pirates win two of three.

“I don’t want to talk about it. I’m trying not to analyze it,” Doumit said. “I just want to ride the wave right now.

“Things are going well right now, and I don’t want to put too much thought into it. I have no complaints right now. I like the way our team is playing. I love the way our pitching staff is performing. Right now we are on a little bit of a roll.”

Doumit is batting .365 with nine home runs and 22 runs batted in in 126 at-bats.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been as hot as he is right now,” Washington’s Lastings Milledge said. “It’s kind of like unbelievable. He’s hitting stuff like two feet off the ground; you can’t really do anything about that. Pretty much anything you throw he’s going to hit; there’s no significant plan for that.”
