* Kansas City 8, at Arizona 3: David DeJesus hit his first grand slam and had a career-high five RBIs, helping the Royals win for the second time in three games against the Diamondbacks. Gil Meche (4-8) went 7 1/3 innings for his first victory since May 15, a span of six starts.

* New York Yankees 13, at Houston 0: Chien-Ming Wang pitched five scoreless innings before spraining his right foot running the bases and Alex Rodriguez hit a three-run homer. Wang is scheduled to undergo tests today.

* at Cleveland 7, San Diego 3: C.C. Sabathia (5-8) outpitched Greg Maddux (3-5) in a matchup of Cy Young winners, supported by Ben Francisco’s three-run homer and Grady Sizemore’s ninth homer in 16 games.

* Boston 9, at Cincinnati 0: Coco Crisp kept the Red Sox’s depleted lineup rolling by driving in four runs, and Jacoby Ellsbury homered and stole two more bases for a Red Sox rookie record in a victory over the Reds.

* Washington 6, at Seattle 2: Rookie Kory Casto’s pinch-hit, three-run homer off the foul pole broke an eighth-inning tie to lift the Nationals. Casto was 0 for 14 in his previous five games.

* Colorado 5, at Chicago White Sox 3: Brad Hawpe hit a go-ahead home run and Aaron Cook (10-3) earned a career-high in victories in a season for the Rockies.

* Florida 9, at Tampa Bay 3: Ricky Nolasco (7-4) struck out 12 and Mike Jacobs and Wes Helms hit three-run homers off Edwin Jackson (4-6) to lift the Marlins.
