Some sober reflection on Daly’s situation
The author of “What Daly needs is tough love” doesn’t provide an answer as to where John Daly can find the kind of tough love he needs, probably because he’s never walked in John’s shoes.
But I have, and it’s no big secret where he can find an abundance of tough love, as I did 28 years ago. It’s called an AA meeting, where the only requirement for membership is admitting that you’re an alcoholic.
Daly also needs a new kind of sponsor, not a golf sponsor, but someone with at least 15 years of sobriety under his belt, and who will dole out tough love faster than John can guzzle a mug of beer.

I read that golf guru Butch Harmon has dropped John Daly as a pupil because “the most important thing in his life is getting drunk.” Gee Butch, didn’t see that one coming!
