San Diego 7, at San Francisco 3 (13 innings): The Giants turned a triple play in the eighth inning of a game the Padres won by scoring four runs in the 13th. Keiichi Yabu had just entered with runners on first and second and got Kevin Kouzmanoff to ground into the Giants’ first triple play since 1999. Third baseman Jose Castillo started it by fielding a grounder and touching the bag.

at Philadelphia 12, Florida 3: Chase Utley hit his major league-leading 18th homer as the Phillies moved past the Marlins and into first place in the National League East. The Phillies scored seven runs off Mark Hendrickson (7-3) in the second inning.

at Cincinnati 3, Atlanta 2 (11 innings): Rookie center fielder Jay Bruce had four hits and scored on Chipper Jones’ error in the 11th inning. The Braves put center fielder Mark Kotsay (back) on the 15-day disabled list.

at Milwaukee 5, Houston 1: Ryan Braun had four hits, including a home run, and Manny Parra pitched six strong innings for the Brewers.

at St. Louis 5, Pittsburgh 4: Albert Pujols hit his 14th home run and third in four games and Todd Wellemeyer pitched seven innings for the Cardinals.

Washington 7, at Arizona 4: Willie Harris hit a tiebreaking three-run homer to help the Nationals hand the Diamondbacks their fifth consecutive loss.

at Chicago 10, Colorado 9: The Cubs’ Kerry Wood pitched the ninth for his 13th save.

Dodgers 9, at New York 5: Russell Martin was four for four and drove in three runs.
