Third baseman Jose Castillo started it by fielding a grounder and touching the bag.
at Philadelphia 12, Florida 3: Chase Utley hit his major league-leading 18th homer as the Phillies moved past the Marlins and into first place in the National League East. The Phillies scored seven runs off Mark Hendrickson (7-3) in the second inning.
at Cincinnati 3, Atlanta 2 (11 innings): Rookie center fielder Jay Bruce had four hits and scored on Chipper Jones' error in the 11th inning. The Braves put center fielder Mark Kotsay (back) on the 15-day disabled list.
