No. 6 Penn State 48, at Wisconsin 7: Daryll Clark threw for a touchdown and ran for two more as the Nittany Lions (7-0, 3-0) dismantled the Badgers (3-3, 0-3) at Madison. Cornerback Lydell Sargeant had two interceptions for Penn State, off to its best start since 1999. It was the second straight home loss and most lopsided loss since 1989 for Wisconsin.

at No. 12 Ohio State 16, Purdue 3: Malcolm Jenkins blocked a punt and Etienne Sabino returned it 20 yards for a touchdown to lead the Buckeyes (6-1, 3-0) over the Boilermakers (2-4, 0-2) at Columbus. Tailback Chris “Beanie” Wells totaled 94 yards in 22 carries for Ohio State.

Michigan State 37, at Northwestern 20: Javon Ringer ran for 124 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Spartans (6-1, 3-0) over the Wildcats (5-1, 1-1) at Evanston, Ill. Ringer had his fifth straight 100-yard game and went over 1,000 yards for the second straight season.

Iowa 45, at Indiana 9: Jewel Hampton ran for three touchdowns and Ricky Stanzi threw for two more as the Hawkeyes (4-3, 1-2) routed the Hoosiers (2-4, 0-3) at Bloomington to end their three-game losing streak.

Minnesota 27, at Illinois 20: The Golden Gophers (6-1, 2-1) sacked Juice Williams five times and took his fumble back for the decisive touchdown in beating the Illini (3-3, 1-2) at Champaign.

Toledo 13, at Michigan 10: K.C. Lopata missed a 26-yard field-goal attempt with four seconds left, giving the Rockets (2-4) a win at Ann Arbor over the Wolverines (2-4), who are off to their worst start in 41 years. Toledo became the first Mid-American Conference team to beat Michigan in 25 tries.
