* at New York 9, Chicago 2: Bobby Abreu homered twice and drove in six runs and Mike Mussina kept up his hopes for a 20-win season. Mussina (18-9) earned his 268th win, tying Hall of Famer Jim Palmer for 33rd on the career list. He gave up one run and five hits in six-plus innings, and still has a chance for his first career 20-win season with starts left at Toronto and Boston.
* at Toronto 3, Baltimore 2: Jose Bautista homered and pinch-hitter Gregg Zaun doubled home the tying and go-ahead runs in the sixth inning. Right-hander Jesse Litsch (12-8) worked six innings to win for the third time in four starts, giving up two runs and four hits. The last-place Orioles have lost 19 of 22 games.
* at Kansas City 12, Seattle 0: Zack Greinke combined with two pitchers on a three-hitter, Mike Aviles hit a three-run homer and the Royals completed their first four-game sweep of the Mariners in 19 years. Kansas City had at least 10 hits (13) for the sixth time during a seven-game winning streak, its longest since opening the 2003 season 9-0.
* Minnesota 11, at Tampa Bay 8: Evan Longoria hit three home runs for Tampa Bay, but the Twins scored five runs in the ninth inning to win.
* Angels 6, at Oakland 4: Kendry Morales, Mike Napoli and Brandon Wood hit solo home runs during a span of four pitches from Keith Foulke in the seventh inning.
