Everest: Beyond the Limit: In the third-season premiere of the unscripted adventure series, an avalanche buries a team of climbers (8 p.m. Discovery). In a second new episode, at 9, a storm front closes in on Mt. Everest as climber John Golden presses on to reach the summit on a surgically reconstructed knee, and in a third new episode, at 10, astronaut Scott Parazynski and senior citizen Dawes Eddy attempt a history-making summit bid.

Emergency Level One: In the premiere of this unscripted series, two pregnant women are involved in a car crash and a police shooting puts a patient’s life in the hands of the trauma team (8 p.m. TLC).

Keeping Up With the Kardashians: Khloé gets excited when she thinks she’s pregnant in this new episode (10 p.m. E!).

Cupcake Wars: Four cupcake makers vie to have their treats presented at the Alma Awards in this new unscripted cooking competition series (10 p.m. Food).

Here Comes Mr. Jordan: This 1941 comedy-fantasy stars Robert Montgomery as a prizefighter sent back to Earth in another man’s body after a celestial screw-up ends his life 50 years too soon. Evelyn Keyes, Claude Rains, Edward Everett Horton and James Gleason costar (6:30 p.m. TCM).

Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay: John Cho and Kal Penn play hapless stoners mistaken for terrorists during a commercial flight. With Neil Patrick Harris (6:45 p.m. Cinemax).

The Sound of Music: Julie Andrews’ voice fills the hills in this Academy Award-winning musical based on the true story of Austria’s singing Von Trapp family. Her character, Maria, governess to a wealthy naval officer’s (Christopher Plummer) children, captures all their hearts, brings music into their lives and helps them flee the Nazis. The songs -- “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “The Sound of Music,” “Edelweiss” and more -- have become standards (7 p.m. ABC).

3:10 to Yuma: An impoverished rancher Dan Evans (Christian Bale) is hired to take a brutal outlaw (Russell Crowe) on a dangerous journey to catch a train in director James Mangold’s atmospheric and action-packed remake of the 1957 western adapted from an Elmore Leonard short story. Peter Fonda, Logan Lerman and Ben Foster also star (9:35 p.m. Showtime).
