Two men who fatally stabbed a man outside Barney’s Beanery pleaded no contest Friday to voluntary manslaughter, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said.

Justin Michael Acosta, 35, and Damon Gerardo Acevado, 36, who were charged in September, stabbed Michael McClure after an argument broke out inside the restaurant and then continued outside, prosecutors said. McClure later died at a hospital.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Elden S. Fox sentenced Acosta to one year in jail and three years’ probation.

Acevado is due back in court March 20 for sentencing. If he fails to appear, he faces up to 11 years in state prison. If he returns on the set date, he is expected to be sentenced to four years in state prison for involuntary manslaughter.
