Awful treatment

Re “3 held in nursing home deaths,” Feb. 20

It was with revulsion and anger that I read about the Kern Valley nursing home’s inhuman administration of needless doses of psychotropic drugs to helpless elderly patients entrusted to its care. I truly hope that all three of the accused receive the full penalties that the laws of the state allow.

It is a mirror of the decay in our society when the elderly are stored in facilities such as the one in Kern Valley and conveniently forgotten. This is just another example of how misguided and self-centered we have become. I hope this jolts people into action so that those who gave us life, and who through no fault of their own live their final years in need of daily assistance and care, do not wind up like these unfortunate victims.
