Cal State Northridge 72, UC Santa Barbara 70: Kenny Daniels (14 points) was one of four players in double figures on the road for the Matadors (8-10, 5-3 Big West Conference). Chris Devine led the Gauchos (8-12, 2-6) with 16 points.

Cal State Fullerton 61, Long Beach State 60: Josh Akognon’s basket with 0.5 of a second left won it for Fullerton in Long Beach. Akognon, the ninth-leading scorer in the nation, made 11 of 23 shots and scored 31 points for the Titans (10-10, 4-4 Big West). Stephan Gilling scored 15 points for Long Beach State (10-9, 5-2).

Pepperdine 69, San Francisco 67: Freshman Keion Bell set a career high with 32 points in the Waves’ first win over the host Dons in almost four years. Bell made 13 of 14 shots from the field for the Waves (5-17, 2-4 West Coast Conference). The Dons (8-13, 0-6) lost their sixth straight.

Santa Clara 82, Loyola Marymount 56: Senior John Bryant had 22 rebounds and freshman James Rahon scored 25 points at home for Santa Clara (10-13, 2-4 WCC). Bryant became the nation’s leader in total rebounds for the season with 306, passing Oklahoma’s Blake Griffin, who has 295. Vernon Teel led LMU (1-21, 0-6) with 20 points.

UC Irvine 71, UC Riverside 66: Michael Hunter scored 19 points, Kevin Bland scored 17 and Irvine (7-13, 4-3 Big West) withstood host Riverside’s second-half surge. Riverside (11-8, 3-4) had the ball down 69-66 in the final seconds but Jesse LoBue missed on a three-pointer.

WOMEN

No. 7 California 64, UCLA 48: Ashley Walker overcame a sluggish first half to score 17 points at home for the Golden Bears (17-2, 8-0 Pacific 10 Conference), who won their ninth straight overall. Doreena Campell scored 13 points for UCLA (14-5, 5-3).

No. 8 Stanford 81, USC 53: Jayne Appell scored 19 points at home for Stanford (16-4, 7-1 Pac-10), which outrebounded USC, 62-31. The Trojans (11-8, 5-3) were scoreless for the first eight minutes.
