Despite the recession, the California Community Foundation -- in partnership with the Getty Trust -- has maintained its program of fellowships for L.A. County’s visual artists. In this year’s awards, to be announced today, 10 midcareer artists will receive $20,000 apiece and four emerging figures will each get $15,000.
Mid-career grants will go to Pae White, Jennifer Steinkamp, Sandeep Mukherjee, Mineo Mizuno, John Malpede, Euan MacDonald, Sharon Lockhart, Andrea Bowers, Edgar Arceneaux and Rheim Alkadhi.
Grants to emerging artists will be given to Elana Mann; Zackary Drucker; Sara Daleiden of Los Angeles Urban Rangers, a group of urban environmentalists; and Juan Capistrano.
