Three people died early Sunday after separate Halloween shootings. One was struck by gunfire at a party in West Covina and the other two were fatally wounded in a drive-by shooting in Inglewood, authorities said.

In the Inglewood attack, a 25-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were shot about 1 a.m. as they stood in a small group outside a home in the 400 block of North Edgewood Street, said Inglewood Police Sgt. Mike Bolliger.

Shots were fired randomly into the group from a passing car, Bolliger said.

The man was struck in the head and the woman in the chest, he said. They were taken to separate hospitals, where they died. Their names were not immediately released.

Bolliger said detectives believe that the shooting was gang-related. He asked that anyone with information about the killings call the department’s homicide detectives at (310) 412-5246.

Police in West Covina said a fight turned deadly when one man retrieved a handgun from a car as a party on the 1800 block of South Shadydale Avenue was ending about 12:50 a.m. A man in his 20s was shot in the upper torso and died at the scene, Police Cpl. Rudy Lopez said. A 40-year-old man was wounded in his wrist and treated at a hospital. The names of the victims were not immediately released.

The gunman left in a dark-colored car driven by a woman, Lopez said.

He asked anyone with information to call detectives at (626) 939-8557 or the anonymous hotline at (626) 939-8688.
