Can’t Alabama play Florida now?

Share

Five things to watch for this week:

1 The Southeastern Conference title game in Atlanta on Dec. 5 is already set, with Florida and Alabama meeting for the championship. The only question is whether both teams will be undefeated, with the winner playing for a guaranteed spot in the BCS title game.

2 Iowa at Ohio State was supposed to be a coronation for the Hawkeyes’ dream season. With Iowa losing at home against Northwestern, though, Ohio State has seized command of the Big Ten race and, with victory, can clinch a Rose Bowl berth.

3 Two years ago, Stanford came to the Coliseum as a 41-point underdog to USC and pulled off one of college football’s all-time shockers. A win Saturday wouldn’t be shocking at all, as Stanford is already bowl-eligible for the first time since 2001.

4 A Texas Christian win over Utah next weekend in Fort Worth would just about clinch an automatic BCS berth for Gary Patterson’s team. The Horned Frogs, who have won at Virginia and Clemson this year, close the Mountain West season against Wyoming and New Mexico.

5 Undefeated Cincinnati, which survived a close weekend call against Connecticut, hosts West Virginia in a key Big East game on Friday night. The Bearcats finish the season against Illinois and at Pittsburgh.
