It looks like the Oscars’ best picture race won’t be the only category getting a boost in nominees this year.

Twenty animated films have been submitted for consideration in the best animated feature film race for the 82nd Academy Awards. According to the rules of the category, a maximum of five films can be nominated in a year when the field of eligible entries number at least 16. Since animated features got their own Oscar in 2001, there has only been one year -- 2002 -- when the number of nominated films has exceeded three contenders.

Films on the list include blockbusters like “Up” and “Monsters vs. Aliens” and those that received limited one-week theatrical qualifying runs, such as “Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure.” The nominations will be announced on Feb. 2.
