“Talkin’ About Bessie”

Elizabeth Coleman was the first African American to obtain an international pilot’s license. She grew up in a time when segregation was a way of life. It wasn’t easy to survive. That did not stop “Bessie” Coleman from doing what she wanted. She was only 11 when the Wright Brothers made their first flight.

I would recommend this book to fourth graders, because it is challenging to read. Read it and learn more interesting facts.
