No. 16 Texas Christian 30, at Virginia 14: The Horned Frogs (1-0) held the Cavaliers (0-2) to seven first downs while breezing to the win. Virginia quarterback Jameel Sewell was sacked eight times.

at Maryland 38, James Madison 35 (OT): Nick Ferrara kicked a 26-yard field goal in overtime, giving the Terrapins (1-1) a narrow win. The Dukes started first in overtime but moved one yard in three plays before a 41-yard field goal attempt failed.

at Florida State 19, Jacksonville State 9: Ty Jones’ one-yard touchdown run on fourth down with 35 seconds left put the Seminoles (1-1) ahead of the lower-division Gamecocks and teammate Kevin McNeil returned a fumble for a score 21 seconds later.

at Boston College 34, Kent State 7: Justin Tuggle and Dave Shinskie, auditioning for the quarterback job, each threw first-quarter touchdown passes for the Eagles (2-0).

at North Carolina State 65, Murray State 7: The Wolfpack (1-1) led, 45-0, at halftime and scored on its first 10 drives.

Duke 35, at Army 19: Backup Sean Renfree threw two second-half touchdowns for the Blue Devils (1-1) and completed seven of his first eight passes against the Black Knights (1-1).
