Twins win, and the race is on in AL Central
Associated Press
MINNEAPOLIS —
Michael Cuddyer hit a two-run homer and Brian Duensing gave up four hits in 6 1/3 innings as Minnesota beat Detroit, 3-0, Friday to move to within three games of the Tigers.
It is the closest the Twins (75-72) have been to first place since Aug. 2. As the Tigers (78-69) have stumbled since Labor Day, the AL Central has quietly emerged as the one division in baseball this season with an actual pennant race.
