Highlights: Emeril Lagasse and other renowned chefs host a culinary weekend with gala dinners, cooking classes, wine tastings and cigar seminars.

SAN FRANCISCO

Cherry Blossom Festival

When, where: April 10-11, 17-18, Japantown

Highlights: More than 200,000 people are expected at this 43rd annual event, featuring Japanese dancers, martial artists, taiko drummers, food marketplace, traditional arts and crafts, children’s village, golf tournament, pageant, and a parade on April 18.

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ.

Scottsdale Culinary Festival

When, where: April 13 to 18, throughout Scottsdale

Highlights: This enormous event, in its 32nd year, is a convergence of culinary and cocktail parties, celebrity chefs, tribute dinners (including a James Beard benefit), mixologist demos and the Great Arizona Picnic at Scottsdale’s Civic Center Plaza. This year’s iteration will emphasize fresh herbs and produce.

Cost: Tickets are $5 to $200.

SANTA BARBARA

Earth Day Festival

When, where: April 17-18, Alameda Park

Highlights: In honor of Earth Day’s 40th anniversary, some 20,000 attendees will converge in Santa Barbara to learn about the “Fossil Free by ‘33” campaign and check out hundreds of eco-minded businesses, technology vendors and environmental organizations. There will be a Green Shorts Film Festival, a green car show and a pavilion featuring the latest in planet-friendly home decor and appliances.
