Aaron Rodgers extended his sharp start to the exhibition season, passing for 195 yards and three touchdowns in the first half of the Green Bay Packers’ 59-24 rout of the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night at Green Bay, Wis.

It was a costly game for the Colts. Running back Joseph Addai left in the third quarter because of a concussion and linebacker Gary Brackett hurt his right hand.

Colts quarterback Peyton Manning made plenty of big plays against a porous Packers pass defense early, completing 15 of 26 passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns.

Addai was hurt while tackling Robert Francois after Francois recovered a fumble by Manning. Addai walked slowly to the sideline and sat with his head in a towel while trainers spoke with him.

The Colts kept their starters in the game past halftime, whereas the Packers pulled most of their regulars at the break.

St. Louis 36, New England 35: No. 1 overall draft pick Sam Bradford completed 15 of 22 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns in his first start for the visiting Rams.

Josh Brown’s 37-yard field goal on the final play gave St. Louis the win.

The Patriots’ Tom Brady passed for 273 yards and three touchdowns.

Giants’ O’Hara has foot put in cast

New York Giants starting center Shaun O’Hara, who has tendinitis in his left Achilles’ and ankle swelling, was placed in a hard cast Thursday and probably will miss the rest of the exhibition season.

O’Hara said he expects to wear the cast for up to five days.

Left guard Rich Seubert will take O’Hara’s starting spot for Saturday’s exhibition game in Baltimore.

“It’s just something I’ve been dealing with pretty much all through camp,” O’Hara said. “I’ve had some good days and some bad days. It’s been something we’ve been kind of coping with and working through. It’s reached the point where we decided we need to just try to isolate it and give it some complete and total rest.”

Anderson will start at QB for Cardinals

Arizona Cardinals Coach Ken Whisenhunt said Derek Anderson will start at quarterback Saturday night in an exhibition game against the Chicago Bears.

Matt Leinart, the 10th overall pick in the 2006 draft out of USC, started for Arizona on Monday in a 24-10 loss to the Tennessee Titans and went three-and-out in all three of his series.

Asked what he’s looking for with the change, Whisenhunt said, “First downs.”
