Update: The Kings are 2-0-1 in a stretch of 12 straight games against Western Conference opponents. They defeated the Red Wings, 3-2, in overtime last Saturday but they’re only 2-6-2 in their last 10 games at Detroit. Left wing Marco Sturm, acquired from Boston on Saturday contingent on his ability to pass a physical, is scheduled to undergo tests on his surgically repaired knee. He’s not expected to join the Kings on this five-game trip. Defenseman Willie Mitchell, who fractured his hand Nov. 6, is expected to return during the trip. The West-leading Red Wings have won two straight games after a three-game winless streak. Center Pavel Datsyuk has four goals and 14 points in his last eight games.
