Spencer Juarez, a 13-year-old Hollywood High football player who collapsed on the field in October during a game against Los Angeles West Adams, died from a “massive cerebral edema due to blunt head trauma,” according to a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner. His death has been ruled an accident.

Another player who died last fall, Kevin Telles, 17, from Garden Grove, had myocarditis, an inflammation of his heart muscle, according to a spokesman for the Orange County coroner.

Juarez, a freshman and straight-A student, died on Oct. 17, one day after being injured during a freshman-sophomore game.
