John Wooden obituary: The obituary of John Wooden that ran in Section A on June 5 and in a commemorative section June 13 included information attributed to former UCLA basketball player Andy Hill regarding controversial booster Sam Gilbert. The article reported that Hill had told The Times that former team trainer Elvin “Ducky” Drake was something of a watchdog for the team, and that Drake had apparently missed what was going on with Gilbert. Hill says that he did not discuss that with the reporter and that Drake would not have been in a position to do anything to detect Gilbert’s involvement or stop Gilbert from any inappropriate action.

Fiorina campaign: An article in the June 26 California section about U.S. Senate Republican nominee Carly Fiorina said that Riverside County Dist. Atty. Rod Pacheco was the chairman of Fiorina’s Latino outreach efforts. The chairman of those efforts is former Assemblyman Bob Pacheco (R-Walnut).

Suspected spy in Cyprus: An article in Friday’s Section A about the disappearance of an alleged Russian spy in Cyprus said Kyriacos Iacovides is publisher of the Cyprus Weekly. He is publisher of the Cyprus Mail.

Russian spy operations: An article in Friday’s Section A about experts discussing Russian spying operations implied that the Federal Security Service is the sole successor to the Soviet KGB. That agency is responsible for domestic affairs and counter-intelligence. The Foreign Intelligence Service is responsible for international operations.

Prince Harry: A caption with a photo in the June 27 Section A showing Britain’s Prince Harry walking off the field after throwing the ceremonial first pitch at a New York Mets game said the game took place at Shea Stadium. The game was played at Citi Field, the team’s home since 2009.
