Warehouse 13: The second season premiere picks up right where the first season left off. MacPherson (Roger Rees) has blown Artie (Saul Rubinek) to smithereens and disappeared, and there are a few questions remaining: Is Leena (Genelle Williams) really a traitor? Where has Claudia (Allison Scagliotti) gone? How will Pete and Myka (Eddie McClintock, Joanne Kelly) and the Warehouse fare without Artie? (9 p.m. Syfy)

P.O.V.: Promised Land: Filmmaker Yoruba Richen’s new documentary explores two key legal struggles over land in South Africa, where a dirt-poor community petitions for the return of 42,000 acres of fertile farmland currently being controlled by white farmers and developers, and the case of a middle-class black family that claims it owns 3,800 acres now possessed by a few white farmers (10 p.m. KCET).

Memphis Beat: The whole squad is on the case when a teenage beauty queen goes missing. Jason Lee, Sunny Mabrey and Abraham Benrubi star in this new episode (10 p.m. TNT).

Dinner With the Band: Au Revoir Simone is on the guest list for this new episode (10:30 p.m. IFC).

MOVIES

Home Alone: Macaulay Culkin stars as a youngster who is mistakenly left home alone when his family leaves for Paris at Christmastime and must defend his home from two inept burglars (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern), in this 1990 comedy (7:45 a.m. and 7:15 p.m. HBO).

It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World: Producer-director Stanley Kramer pulled out all the stops in making this mammoth 1963 comedy one of the most frenetic movies ever filmed. Spencer Tracy, Milton Berle, Sid Caesar, Buddy Hackett, Ethel Merman, Mickey Rooney, Dick Shawn, Phil Silvers and Jonathan Winters lead the huge cast (5 p.m. TCM).

SPORTS

World Cup soccer: The Netherlands meets Uruguay in the first semifinal (10:30 a.m. ESPN).

Baseball: The Angels visit the Chicago White Sox (5 p.m. FSN); the Florida Marlins visit the Dodgers (7 p.m. KCAL).

Women’s basketball: The Phoenix Mercury visit the Sparks (7 p.m. ESPN2).
