Edward’s Steak House: In Thursday’s LATExtra section, the caption with a photo accompanying an article about the closing of Edward’s Steak House in El Monte attributed a quote to the wrong speaker. As the article noted, it was diner Elizabeth Mahoney, not Frances Snyder, who said, “I’ve been coming here since 1968,” a reference to the original Edward’s, which operated in Los Angeles from 1946 to 1990.

Abandoned newborn: In Wednesday’s LATExtra section, a California Briefing item about a Laguna Niguel woman charged with attempting to kill her newborn girl by dumping her in a trash bin carried an erroneous headline, “Trial set in newborn death.” As the item reported, the girl was discovered alive in the August 2008 incident and is now in protective custody.

Kevin Kline page number: A box with a photo on the Sunday Calendar cover referring readers to an article about actor Kevin Kline gives the wrong page. The article is on Page D4.

Social media: An article in the July 18 Sports section about how the Lakers and other professional teams are using new media such as Facebook and Twitter misspelled the last name of international soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo as Renaldo.
