Redevelopment: An article in the Oct. 1 Section A about redevelopment spending said the Banning Community Redevelopment agency paid “top dollar — and then some” for a vacant car dealership it bought last year for $1.2 million without an independent appraisal. In an interview earlier this year, Mayor Bob Botts declined to discuss a Riverside County grand jury’s finding, based on witness testimony, that the city paid above market value. The article should have included a later response to the jury, in which the city said the purchase was supported by various factors including favorable seller-financing and comparable sales data furnished by a broker involved in the deal. The article also said the Riverbank Redevelopment Agency paid $1.7 million for a theater before conducting a structural evaluation that deemed it unsound. It should have noted that the city had two less extensive inspections done before the sale closed.

Credit cards: An article about credit card merchant fees in the Oct. 5 Business section misidentified Irvine photo shop owner Mitch Goldstone as Mitchell Goldstone. Also, the name of his business was incorrect. It is ScanMyPhotos.com, not Scanmyphoto.com.

New TV season: An article in the Oct. 4 Calendar section about the 2-week-old television season said that NBC’s ratings among young adults during premiere week were up 11% from the same period a year earlier, while CBS’ were flat. In fact, for the first week of the season, CBS was up 3% among viewers aged 18 to 49, while NBC was up 4%, according to Nielsen Co.

Pilobolus dance review: A review in the Oct. 4 Calendar section of Pilobolus Dance Theatre said that the company updated its work called “Untitled” this weekend by performing in the nude. In fact, the 1975 piece was conceived in the nude and is performed that way, though at times presenters have opted for the dancers to cover up with dance belts.

“Banana Republican”: In the Aug. 27 Calendar section, a review of “Banana Republican,” Eric Rauchway’s novel that describes what happens to Tom Buchanan in the years after F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel “The Great Gatsby,” identified Buchanan as being a war hero. It was Gatsby, not Buchanan, who held this distinction.

Syphilis experiment: An article in the Oct. 2 Section A about a U.S. government apology for a 1940s experiment in which government researchers infected Guatemalan prisoners, women and mental patients with syphilis stated that the infamous Tuskegee study on black American men occurred in the 1960s. The Tuskegee experiment ran from 1932 to 1972.
