College football Bottom Ten: Akron and New Mexico battle for title

Share

And then there were two.

The shocking 54-21 victory over Louisiana Lafayette by wacky Western Kentucky (1-6) left just two winless teams: Akron (0-8) and New Mexico (0-7).

That number could fall this weekend because the Lost Lobos of New Mexico get to play Colorado State (2-6), which is coming off a 6-59 loss at the hands, elbows, knees and feet of Utah. The game wasn’t as close as the score indicated.

Akron shouldn’t have any trouble losing to Temple (6-2) Saturday, but will need clutch breakdowns later in the year if it intends to lose to Ball State (2-6) and Buffalo (2-5).
