Poor Miley Cyrus. Apparently, she’s been kicked off the cover of December Vogue.

Unless you’ve been, say, trekking for several weeks in Bhutan, you undoubtedly recall her rather infamous performance at the recent MTV Video Music Awards. Her jam with Robin Thicke and that giant foam finger was rather ... lascivious.

At the time it seemed she wasn’t really worked up about the controversy. She’s already said she doesn’t regret the performance -- it’s about making history -- and her manager says the VMAs “could not have gone better.”

But it sounds as if Vogue editor Anna Wintour was making a little history herself. The New York Daily News is reporting that Wintour canceled an upcoming cover due to the controversial performance.

“Anna found the whole thing distasteful,” says a source. “She decided, based on Miley’s performance, to take the cover in a different direction.”

The Daily Mail reported that Wintour had been eager to champion the 20-year-old “as a new fashion icon” but changed her mind “after witnessing the singer perform her overtly sexual routine in latex bra and knickers.”
