Harper Lee dies, social media mourns but celebrates her life

As news of the death of Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Harper Lee filters around the globe, so do Twitter reactions upon, not just her passing, but her life. The author of the literary classic “To Kill a Mockingbird” and last year’s controversial sequel, “Go Set a Watchman,” died peacefully Friday, according to a statement released by HarperCollins, her publisher.

Notable in the remembrances of the influence “To Kill a Mockingbird” and Lee, herself, had on individuals is how her words resonated with people from every walk of life, regardless of color, creed, gender or station in life.
