Yahoo Mail down again, users outraged

Share

Another fail for Yahoo Mail.

The email service is experiencing a widespread outage, with users unable to access their accounts.

Some users simply couldn’t get into their email accounts. Others saw an image of a crying baby with the message: “Sorry, we are over capacity. Please wait a moment and try again.”

This is just the latest hiccup for Yahoo Mail. In December, the service experienced a five-day-long outage that infuriated an untold number of its 100 million users, causing many to abandon their emails for competing services.

Then in January, Yahoo announced that its email service had fallen victim to a coordinated cyberattack.

We emailed Yahoo for comment on the latest outage but haven’t heard back yet. A reporter was unable to leave a voicemail in Yahoo’s media inquiry line because the inbox was over capacity.

As of 12:30 p.m. PST, the Sunnyvale, Calif., tech company hadn’t acknowledged the outage on its media relations site or through its @Yahoo or @yahoomail Twitter handles.

UPDATED (1:18 p.m., Feb. 10, 2014)

“Web access has now been fully restored for Yahoo Mail users. We’re sorry for the inconvenience,” a Yahoo spokeswoman said in an email.
