Comedian Tig Notaro has canceled two of her shows due to an undisclosed medical emergency. According to the performer’s Facebook page, her Boston show on Saturday and her Denver show slated for Sunday were rescheduled “due to an unforeseen hospitalization.”

“Everyone’s patience and understanding is much appreciated,” Notaro’s Facebook post said.

Notaro got her big break after a 2012 stand-up performance at Largo in Los Angeles. During the 30-minute set, she announced that she had Stage 2, bilateral breast cancer.

The set sparked interest in the comedian, especially after Louis C.K. tweeted that it was one of the “truly great, masterful stand-up sets” he had seen in 27 years of performing.

Notaro made headlines last week when she performed topless for most of her set at the New York Comedy Festival, revealing to the audience her double-mastectomy scars.

In October, Notaro organized a breast cancer awareness comedy benefit at the Largo. She told The Times in an interview that she was “still in remission” but felt really, really great on a daily basis.”

Her comedy special “Knock Knock, It’s Tig Notaro” is set to premiere on Showtime next year.
