TV ratings: ‘Arrow’ premiere up; ‘black-ish’ stays strong

ABC won over the key 18-to-49-year-old demographic in Wednesday night’s TV viewer ratings with help from sitcoms “Modern Family” and “black-ish.”

According to Nielsen, “Modern Family” was the most watched program in the key demo with a rating of 3.4. The show was second in total audience with about 10 million viewers.

Following “Modern Family,” “black-ish” remained strong in the ratings and averaged about 8 million viewers. It was the second-most watched show in the key demo and up 8% from last week with a rating of 2.8.

ABC, which also aired “The Middle,” “The Goldbergs” and “Nashville,” won the key demo with a rating of 2.2. It averaged 7.2 million viewers.

Meanwhile, CBS topped the night with about 9.4 million viewers. The network was second in the key demo with a rating of 2.1.

“Criminal Minds” was the most watched program of the night, averaging 10.5 million viewers. The show posted a rating of 2.3 in the key demo, down 15% from last week.

Reality show “Survivor,” now in its 29th season, was third in the key demo and overall. Wednesday night’s episode, up 4% from last week, posted a rating of 2.5 and averaged 9.5 million viewers.

Also on the CBS, “Stalker” earned a rating of 1.7 in the key demo, down 15% from last week. The drama rounded out the top five most watched programs overall, averaging 8.1 million viewers.

On CW, the Season 3 premiere of “Arrow” was up 11% from last fall’s premiere with a rating of 1.0 in the key demo. It averaged 2.8 million viewers in its 8 p.m. time slot. The network just came off a strong Tuesday night with the premiere of “The Flash.”

On NBC, Debra Messing’s new show “The Mysteries of Laura” fell 13% from last week with a rating of 1.3. It was the fourth most watched with 8.5 million viewers.

“Law & Order: SVU,” which averaged 7.6 million viewers, tied with “Stalker” in the key demo with a rating of 1.7.

“Chicago P.D.” stayed even with last week with a rating of 1.5. It averaged 6.7 million viewers.

NBC was No. 2-most watched network overall, averaging 7.6 million viewers. It posted a rating of 1.5 in the key demo.

Fox’s “Red Band Society” earned a rating of 0.9 in the key demo, a slight decrease from last week. The show drew 2.9 million viewers.

The network also aired “Hell’s Kitchen,” which stayed even with last week’s episode with a rating of 1.4.
