‘Veep’: Join a live chat with Matt Walsh on Monday

Share

Join actor Matt Walsh and Times staff writer Glenn Whipp at 1 p.m. PDT Monday for a live video chat about Walsh’s turn as the sad sack, self-loathing communications director on HBO’s political comedy “Veep.”

Now in its second season, “Veep” follows Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Selina Meyer as she struggles to remain politically relevant and still be vice president of the United States. Walsh’s Mike McLintock has been on Selena’s team since she was a senator, though their relationship isn’t necessarily stronger from the years they’ve put in together.

Walsh was a founding member of Chicago comedy troupe the Upright Citizens Brigade and he says his improv training there has been perfect training for “Veep.”

“We basically got to help develop the characters in the first season and then we get to add dialogue and kitsch jokes -- there’s a certain custodial responsibility for our characters in the process,” Walsh says in an interview on HBO.

Do you have a favorite Mike moment? How did the character get so deeply in debt? And will he ever develop a bit of ambition? Join us Monday, questions in hand, and we’ll hear what Walsh has to say.
