NBC’s “The Voice” did something its arch-rival “American Idol” couldn’t: It won an Emmy Sunday night in the best reality competition category.

This was the second straight year that “Voice” -- a singing contest hosted by Carson Daly -- was nominated. Last year, it lost to CBS’ “The Amazing Race.”

“Idol” has been nominated nine times, but not since 2011.
