It’s a straightforward question that Blac Chyna screamed into her phone, presumably at Rob Kardashian, midway through the the first trailer for their upcoming E! reality series, “Rob & Chyna”: “Are you still texting bitches?! Yes or no?!”

The docu-series, consisting of six hourlong episodes, follows the new couple as they prepare for the impending birth of their first child while still attempting to navigate what appears to be the rocky waters of a nascent relationship.

Leaving aside the reality, if you will, of Rob and Chyna’s relationship, the narrative arc established in the trailer seems familiar. A timid, reserved guy falls in love with a brash, outspoken wild child and a mid-’90s romantic comedy ensues.

The most interesting aspect of “Rob & Chyna” appears to be the rest of the Kardashians involvement in the show. In a typical romantic comedy, the reserved guy’s family would swoop in and chide him about what a poor match he’s making with this woman who is obviously after him for all the wrong reasons.

Here, that’s a fascinating development, given that the members of the overly concerned family are themselves over-exposed reality stars who are forever having to protect themselves from accusations of being shameless spotlight chasers.

At one point during the trailer, Khloe Kardashian says, with a straight face, “That Rob wants to be so public blows my mind.”

Is it really so unbelievable that Rob Kardashian, after spending years of his life avoiding the cameras that his sisters sought, ended up falling in love with a woman just as eager to turn her personal life into performance art?

Nah.

For those anxious to see how the Kardashians handle being out Kardashian-ed (and to find out whether Rob has or has not been texting bitches) “Rob & Chyna” debuts Sept. 11 at 9 p.m.
