Rumor update: Janet Jackson didn’t slap Paris Jackson

Share

Despite widely reported rumors, Janet Jackson did not slap Paris Jackson last week.

TMZ, the story’s source, issued a statement Wednesday: “Although we believed the story to be true when we published it, we have now determined it was not correct ... Janet did not slap or otherwise touch Paris, nor did she verbally abuse her.”

The story was perpetuated after Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of domestic violence at Katherine Jackson’s home in Calabasas last Monday. Jackson family members had engaged in a physical fight, a deputy told L.A. Now, not releasing specific names.

Later, when security video footage shot from within the house was leaked, TMZ reported that Janet had slapped Paris and called her a rude name, though the video showed only what appeared to be Janet reaching for the 14-year-old’s phone.

Michael Jackson’s children are now under the temporary custody of their cousin T.J. Jackson, the 34-year-old son of Tito. After weeks of highly publicized family drama, including a string of unhappy tweets by Paris and a missing-persons report filed on Katherine and closed after she was discovered to be safe with family in Arizona, the Jackson family matriarch lost sole custody of Prince, Paris and Blanket due to the acts of “third parties,” according to the L.A. judge who ruled on the custody issue.
