Avril Lavigne surprises with engagement to rocker Chad Kroeger

Avril Lavigne kept her last relationship so private that the party in question remained unidentified — until he was upgraded to her fiance.

Lavigne is engaged to Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger, reports said Tuesday, after six months of dating.

“A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together,” a Lavigne source told People of the Canadian musicians.

The proposal went down Aug. 8, with a reported whopper of a 14-carat diamond ring. How could anyone say no? Well, almost anyone.

Lavigne was last linked to Brody Jenner, son of Olympian Bruce, whose wife is Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner. The young pair split up in January.

Avril also had a previous marriage, to Sum 41 guitar player Deryck Whibley. This will be the first “I do” for Kroeger.
