The amazing life of Amanda Bynes — lately

Share

Amanda Bynes is “doing amazing” — and she might be doing it amazingly all on her own, according to a couple of reports coming out after the former child star’s bail hearing Wednesday in her misdemeanor DUI case.

At the hearing, which had been moved up from Friday because of Bynes’ attorney’s concerns about media attention and which Bynes did not attend, a judge said it wasn’t necessary to post $50,000 bail on the 26-year-old’s behalf as long as she didn’t drive with a suspended license between now and her Oct. 29 trial date, Radar Online reported. Do that, said the judge, and she’d be looking at a “very high amount” — dare we say an amazing amount? — in the bail department.

Team Bynes, however, may be falling apart, or not, according to various reports. Her agent, publicist and entertainment lawyer have all dropped her in recent weeks, according to TMZ, whose sources said the team members had been trying to get in touch with their client for a month now, to no avail. Bynes fired her manager two months ago, reported E! News, whose source said wait a sec, she still has a publicist in New York and nobody dropped anybody, it was simply a matter of Amanda not needing a whole team of people anymore.

You know, ‘cause of the I-quit-acting thing, which she actually did once before and then undid.

The “She’s the Man” star also scrubbed her Twitter account at some point, leaving no tweets visible at @AmandaBynes, the account from which she’d previously made an amazing attempt to contact President Obama for a little legal aid on the DUI sitch.

“I am doing amazing,” the “She’s the Man” star told People by telephone Wednesday, adding that she’s now retired from acting and is moving to New York to do a fashion line.

“I am not talking about being arrested for DUI because I don’t drink, and I don’t drink and drive,” she said. “It is all false.”

She does apparently smoke and drive, however, despite having a suspended license: Recent TMZ pictures showed her behind the wheel sparking up an unidentified substance in a pipe designed, amazingly, to look like a car’s cigarette lighter.

And Bynes had an amazing encounter this week with a paparazzo, captured on a tape presented by “Entertainment Tonight.” Actually, we think it’s pretty amazing simply that she was wearing some sort of fur-looking stole strolling down Sunset Boulevard in this weather, but hey, she’s a fashionista now, so what do we know.

First she didn’t want her picture taken, then she agreed to cooperate and pose in exchange for the pap nuking the first shots — “I need to look beautiful,” she said — and then the whole mess devolved into a possible scuffle over control of the camera, with the photog accusing Bynes of scratching him and the not-an-actress-anymore declaring she hadn’t touched him.

Not so amazing: The creepy way the paparazzo talks to Bynes after she realizes she’s been recognized by a dude with a camera and tries to scram. Watch the ET video and see if you agree.

Bynes, whose license was suspended recently, is also looking at a couple of hit-and-run charges in addition to that DUI case.
