No, that’s not ‘Pitch Perfect’ star Rebel Wilson (Yes, it is)

Ever since her scene-stealing turn as a kooky roommate in “Bridesmaids” last year, Rebel Wilson has been a face to watch in Hollywood.

The 28-year-old this year uprooted from her native Australia to West Hollywood, where she’s been busy working on a slate of films. She’s already had two films in theaters this year — “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” and “Bachelorette” — and on Friday, her a capella comedy “Pitch Perfect” begins its slow nationwide rollout.

Wilson says she is quickly saying goodbye to her anonymity, even though she’s new in town.

“Things are getting crazy, especially with my face on the [‘Pitch Perfect’] poster and everything,” the actress said on the red carpet at the film’s premiere in Hollywood on Monday night. “I can’t really go grocery shopping anymore — and I love to stroll down the ice cream aisle, get some chips.”

Wilson admitted she’s even denied her identity when confronted by fans, just so she can continue to shop in peace. “They’re like, ‘Are you that girl who is in “Bridesmaids?” ’ And I’m like, ‘No.’ Sometimes I can be convincing that it’s not me,” she said with a smile.

In “Pitch Perfect,” produced by actress Elizabeth Banks, Wilson costars as one of a handful of girls in a competitive college a capella singing group. The movie features a handful of other young up-and-comers, including Anna Kendrick, who appeared in last weekend’s surprise box office winner “End of Watch.” Kendrick, 27, plays Jake Gyllenhaal’s character’s girlfriend in the gritty cop drama — a far cry from her role as a heavy-eyeliner-wearing DJ in “Pitch Perfect.”

“It’s not intentional,” the “Twilight” alum said of her diversity of roles, “but I realize more and more that it is subconscious. I am drawn to things that are different from the thing that I did before, so it keeps my career interesting, and it keeps my life interesting.”

Even with her career on a hot streak, Kendrick spent much of her time gushing about Wilson.

“She definitely is one of those people who everyone says is an overnight success, but she’s been working really hard,” Kendrick said. “She deserves every bit of success she’s been getting.”
