The Bond theme song will once again be in the hands of a British artist.

Soulful singer Adele has confirmed rumors that essentially began the day “Skyfall,” the third James Bond film to feature Daniel Craig in the namesake role, went into production. Adele’s “Skyfall” will premiere on Friday.

The song was written with her longtime producer/collaborator Paul Epworth, the team behind 2010’s smash “Rolling in the Deep.” The song will premiere on Adele’s website on Thursday at about 4:07 p.m. PST (that’s 0:07 BST and the start of Oct. 5’s promotional holiday known as “James Bond Day,” for those curious).

“Skyfall” marks the first new song Adele has recorded since “21” became an international phenomena. Since its release in early 2011, the album has sold 9.8 million copies in the U.S. alone, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

In a press statement, Adele admits to being a little hesitant to take on the assignment, noting that there’s “a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song.” The last three Bond themes have been helmed by Americans, with Alicia Keys and Jack White doing the honors on 2008’s “Another Way to Die” (the theme from “Quantum of Solace”).

Adele’s “Skyfall” was recorded at the famed Abbey Road Studios in London and features a 77-piece orchestra. “When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life,” Adele said in the statement. I’ll be back combing my hair when I’m 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day.”

Also featuring a score composed by Thomas Newman (“Wall-E”), “Skyfall” will be released on Nov. 9 in the U.S. Adele’s “Skyfall” will be available for purchase from digital download sites immediately after it premieres.
