Pete Rose will get his own TLC reality show

Former Major League Baseball superstar Pete Rose may be banned from the Baseball Hall of Fame, but there’s one community that’s all too happy to have him: the hallowed halls of reality TV. Rose and his fiancee, model Kiana Kim, are set to have the run-up to their impending wedding broadcast on TLC.

The network announced the series on Wednesday and said it had begun production on five episodes set to air later this air, although it still doesn’t have a title. The series will chronicle the plans for the 71-year-old Rose’s wedding to the 30-something Playboy model and the ongoing blending of their respective families.

Rose and Kim went on Howard Stern’s radio show in 2010 and discussed their, ahem, quite active love life. So Charlie Hustle isn’t going to be shy about the topics that matter to a reality show audience.

Expect to see some drama from Rose’s adult children, who are quite skeptical of the relationship, and some long-distance woes: Rose lives in Vegas and Kim lives in Los Angeles. But we’re pretty sure those crazy kids are gonna make it work.

Rose, of course, has had a rocky history. He’s the all-time major league leader in hits, games played, at-bats and outs. But because of accusations that he gambled on games he played in and managed, he agreed to permanently retire from baseball in 1989. He has remained a controversial figure, with some advocating for his induction into the Hall of Fame and others maintaining that he should remain banned forever.

Amy Winter, TLC’s general manager, said in a statement, “Pete is one of sport’s most controversial characters, and his life is even more fascinating off the field as it was on.”
