After Wednesday’s opener, a new season of NFL Football kicks into high gear with a day’s worth of games — including quarterback Peyton Manning’s official debut in orange and blue when the Denver Broncos host the Pittsburgh Steelers. (NBC, 5:15 p.m.)

The new special “9/11: Voices From the Air” uses cellphone messages, air traffic control transmissions and other recordings to reconstruct the events of that dark day in 2001. (National Geographic, 10 p.m.)

MONDAY

‘Ello, guv’nor: Romola Garai is an ambitious Victorian-era prostitute, Chris O’Dowd is her best customer and Gillian Anderson is a mean old madam in a two-part adaptation of Michel Faber’s “The Crimson Petal and the White.” (Encore, 8 p.m.; also Tue.)

TUESDAY

That “vroom, vroom” you hear? That means Ron Perlman, above, and the “Sons of Anarchy” are rolling back into town, with “NYPD Blue’s” Jimmy Smits and “Lost’s” Harrold Perrineau joining the cast of the bad-biker drama for its fifth season. (FX, 10 p.m.)

WEDNESDAY

Christina’s on “The Voice,” and Mariah’s replacing J.Lo on “Idol” … but only “The X Factor” has Britney. The unsinkable Ms. Spears will join Simon Cowell and company when the talent search launches its second season. (Fox, 8 p.m.; also Thu.)

THURSDAY

Merely players: Kevin Spacey, Val Kilmer and Richard Dreyfuss are among the alums sharing their recollections of a Bard-centric boot camp for young drama students in the 2011 doc “Shakespeare High.” (Showtime, 8 p.m.)

Assorted nonsucker MCs — including Run-DMC, Chuck D, Ice Cube, Ice-T, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Kanye West — talk shop in the new special “Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap.” (VH1, 9 p.m.)

FRIDAY

You’re gonna need a bigger “Shark Tank.” The reality series that pairs investors with inventors dives into a new season, set to include appearances by Robin Leach and “Family Guy’s” Seth McFarlane. (ABC, 8 p.m.)

SATURDAY
