Sheinelle Jones has been named news anchor of “Weekend Today,” NBC has announced.
Jones comes to NBC News from Philadelphia after signing off as cohost of the morning program “Good Day Philadelphia” in March. She’s to begin on “Weekend Today” Oct. 4.
“We are delighted to welcome Sheinelle Jones to NBC News,” said NBC News President Deborah Turness in a news release Monday. “She is an experienced journalist, a fantastic reporter and a dynamic interviewer who will bring so much to ‘Weekend Today’ and the entire NBC News team.”
A graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Jones has also worked as an evening news anchor and reporter at KOKI, a Fox affiliate in Tulsa, Okla.
She replaces Jenna Wolfe, who was recently named lifestyle and fitness correspondent for “Today.”
