Paris Fashion Week spring/summer 2014: Acne Studios review

Share

PARIS -- Jonny Johansson, creative director of Swedish denim and contemporary clothing brand Acne Studios, showed his spring 2014 collection Saturday afternoon at Paris Fashion Week.

The brand is in expansion mode, with the first L.A. boutique slated to open in December in the historic 1930 Eastern Columbia Building. The store, which will be 5,000 square feet, will be the brand’s largest to date, and will offer men’s and women’s clothing, accessories and shoes.

The inspiration: Marine uniforms and work wear.

Key pieces: Denim sailor shirt dress. Denim sleeveless tunic with cropped full-cut denim trousers. Miniskirts or cuffed Bermuda shorts worn with wide yellow nylon belts with oversized plaque buckles. Shredded white leather jacket. Tailored jackets and pants with miniature anchor charms. Wood platform flip-flop sandals.

The verdict: Quirky cool. In particular, the military and work wear influences make this collection a natural fit for indie L.A.
